My relationship with my dad is special.
So much of who I am today is a result of his love and involvement in my life.
My Dad was the first man to treat me like a lady. He taught me that I was someone special, someone worth loving. Much of my confidence and sense of self-worth is a result of his incredible parenting.
Parenting a daughter isn't easy. I sure gave my dad a lot of headaches, and may have been the cause of several sleepless nights. I'm so grateful he didn't give up on me, and he NEVER made me feel worthless because of my shortcomings.
Growing up, my dad's presence in the home provided a wonderful sense of security. My needs were always met, and I was never left wanting. I knew he would protect me against any threat. Because my dad was there, I wasn't scared.
As I've gotten older and have left the safety of my parent's home, I've learned that too many little girls grow up without a father's love and involvement. While this realization is tragic, it has made me very, very grateful for the wonderful dad I've been blessed with.
I love you, Dad. Happy Father's Day!
